With countless UNLV Rebels on our By Dzign team, we’ll take any opportunity we can get to help our Alma Mater with all-things events. We were so honored, then, to be chosen as the event planning and decor company for the 2016 UNLV Homecoming Signature Event. Party planning for our community is one of our favorite things to do. We especially love when we’re able to pair up with our local University to execute an event vision and, ultimately, play a role in creating memories for students, faculty and community members alike.
Because UNLV was selected to host this year’s final presidential debate, the UNLV Alumni Association came up with the idea to execute a patriotic theme for the 2016 UNLV Homecoming event. We dubbed the celebration “Red, White and Rebel,” which was an absolute hit with party attendees.
To help execute a patriotic aesthetic, we used a red and white color palette that spoke both to the overall American theme and to UNLV’s signature colors. From the moment guests stepped into UNLV’s Student Union Ballroom, they were met with a celebration dripping in scarlet red and stark white. Our favorite part of the guest’s initial experience? The “living” red carpet that greeted them (we designed a red carpet that seemingly flowed down from a model’s billowing ballroom gown and across the entryway flooring).
The patriotic 2016 UNLV Homecoming aesthetic continued inside of the ballroom, where we dressed up clean white dining tables with striking silver Infiniti chairs from the By Dzign furniture department. We added shimmering silver runners to the tables and lined the runners with simple, yet stunning arrangements the By Dzign floral team hand crafted. Cream hydrangeas and red roses sat pretty in black and red oblong vases—creating an aesthetic that managed to feel both contemporary and timeless. The By Dzign Linen department then dressed cocktail rounds in our fan-favorite red jacquard damask linen—to help add pops of that renowned scarlet red to the room in all the right places.
For the dance floor, we created all-white flooring complete with the UNLV logo (a custom touch compliments of the talented By Dzign printing team). And, to really drive home the patriotic theme, the event stage boasted a printed vintage American flag graphic with cutout UNLV letters. We also staged two VIP areas complete with all-white renaissance-inspired furniture, like tufted white couches and lounge chairs.
No event would be complete without proper entertainment, though, so the By Dzign entertainment team worked to secure two female and two male gogo dancers, who we placed throughout the room in four scroll gogo pods. Each wore Hamilton-inspired costumes and danced the night away to the sounds of the always-dynamic Shaun Degraff band.
Overall, the 2016 UNLV Homecoming Signature Event was such a success—attendees had an amazing time, and we are so honored to have played a role in their unforgettable night.
