Last week UNLV’s Annual Homecoming festivities took place. It included the Alumni Association’s Vintage Spirit themed event honoring outstanding alumni.

By Dzign partnered with the Association to provide décor and entertainment for the evening. The event took place in the Grand Ballroom of UNLV’s Memorial Student Union.

Go-Fight-Win was the initial theme which soon became “Vintage Spirit” when some old football and cheerleading pictures were recovered from the UNLV photo vault. Once the photos were in hand, the By Dzign Graphic’s Team helped shape the look of décor and create custom graphics to connect the old to the new.

The DNA line of tables was an ideal fit to display vintage photos, as well as seat the guests! Three table sizes were used: 4’x8′ low dinner tables, 8’ high conversation tables and 3’x3’ cocktail tables. Each table either had a vintage print or a Go-Fight-Win custom logo.

The entrance resembled a “tear-away” banner, used for ages by cheerleaders, to introduce the football team. The banner led guests to a tailgate area where guests could get their first drink, either a beer or a glass of wine.

A photo opportunity area, fronted with a box hedge and the Homecoming Logo, allowed guests to pose with the famed Fremont Cannon, the trophy awarded to the winner of the annual football game between UNLV and UNR.

Inside the ballroom, bar fronts were covered with vintage prints and sponsorship logos while back bars were made from old gym lockers. Guests could also grab a glass of wine served by a performer riding around the room in an oversized trike with wine glasses in the propeller. Traditional tailgate food, with a twist, was served from buffet stations around the room, some with cut out UNLV and REBEL fronts.

Oversized megaphones hung from the chandeliers, printed with the Homecoming Logo and the UNLV Mascot, “Hey Reb”. The stage backdrop featured a 20’ long black and white classic football photo with only the jersey’s letters “UNLV” in red.

Marquee letters UNLV on top and #GOFIGHTWIN in front of the stage, set the tone for the night’s entertainment, The Moonshiners, a swing band that mashes old and new hits.

An outstanding way to honor UNLV Outstanding Alumni and the vintage spirit of a traditional homecoming.
