Head of By Dzign Wedding Department

A lover of wedding timelines and iced white chocolate mochas, Lucia Tovalin joined the By Dzign crew in 2013. Originally the team’s wedding coordinator, Lucia quickly made her way to the top of the ranks, earning her current position as the head of the By Dzign Wedding Department. In this role, she manages over 300 (yes, 300!) weddings annually—ranging from small and intimate soirées to massive, full-scale affairs.

Originally from Santa Barbara, California, Lucia was raised in Reno, Nevada but left the snowy Sierras for the desert sunshine in 2012 in pursuit of a criminal justice degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. During her time at UNLV, she worked as a catering manager for Stevie’s Aviation Catering Company. She then founded Vic Vegas Catering, part of Anthem Sun City, where she managed private events and weddings prior to joining forces with By Dzign.

In 2013, Lucia attended The International School of Hospitality (TISOH), Las Vegas’ coveted training school for those in the hospitality industry, where she earned her Wedding Coordination and Design Certification—making her ever-prepared to plan, coordinate and execute unbelievable weddings on behalf of her clients.

When she’s not running around the By Dzign warehouse picking out the perfect décor for her next big wedding, you can find Lucia picking out décor for the new home she just bought with her fiancé, Daniel. A member of the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE), Lucia volunteers her time as the treasurer (and, previously, as director at large) for the Wedding Industry Professionals Association (WIPA). She also provides charitable contributions in the form of décor for Las Vegas’ annual Ladybug Ball and Boys Town.

Lucia loves trying new restaurants, but, when she’s not on the hunt for that next great cafe, she’s likely spending a Saturday hiking in Zion with her two dogs Hercules and Zeta. Her current wedding obsession is watercolor everything (and anything), and she’s constantly on the hunt for creative ways to work the colorful artform into the weddings she plans and manages.
